Beaulieu BoatJumble Event Report
Early rain cleared away to give a dry and mostly sunny day for the 2010 Beaulieu BoatJumble.
Visitor numbers of 9.725 were a little down on last year’s bumper numbers, but still a very good result. Beaulieu Press Officer, Margaret Rowles said: “There was a really good atmosphere and the fine weather encouraged people to stay quite late.”
There was the usual wide choice of goods among the 850 stands, ranging from complete boats to small items of chandlery, new and used stock. The Trunk Traders area, for amateur jumblers selling their surplus boating bits was particularly popular with some pitches completely selling out soon after the event opened.
Exhibitors reported good sales and there were certainly few people to be seen leaving without any purchases. Many items were far too large to carry and visitors were pleased to take advantage of the show’s free heavy items delivery service which was kept busy all day.
The Lymington Coastguard helicopter made its annual appearance, flying over the event in the morning and the RNLI were also on hand to advise sailors who visited their Sea Safety Lifejacket Clinic. Vital funds were raised for the RNLI by the sale of the charity’s merchandise and an auction held at the end of the show.
